After a bad experience with NiMH batteries that I had bought on-line from the Far East, I carried out some tests of my own with a range of batteries. Whilst most of the batteries I tested were reasonable to good, two maker's batteries were really bad (below 20% of their claimed capacities) These were BTY and an unbranded make recognisable by their pale green plastic sleeves.
If you want to see the results, they are stored at go.to/nimh - there you can see tests on several makes of battery.
I recognise that my tests are not the whole story. In particular, the BTY AA batteries were awful and about half of the supplied batch were dead on arrival. Yet I had previously bought a very good batch of AAA batteries made by BTY. That batch all worked and they had good storage capacities. So the conclusion must be that this maker's products are untrustworthy, whilst many other manufacturers have never yet supplied me with a dud battery.
In contrast the unbranded batteries in pale green sleeves had no redeeming features. They were uniformly useless.
