Need a good golf club at a great price? ebay is a fabulous place to get deals on clubs and just about anything else you need. The topic here is fakes and the hundreds of reviews surrounding them, who are these so called experts and do they give you ALL the facts. First of all you hear if the price is too good its not real, well thats not entirely true, ebay is more or less a half price market and there are more than a handfull of reasons why a seller can obtain authentic items for LESS than authorized distributors can, they may not be able to get them on a consistant basis but they are made available via liquidation. Authorized dealers must buy from the source and not from liquidation. We all know that there are unauthorized items out there but I think the paranoia is getting out of control, many of these reviews are written by authorized distributors who simply cannot match price and are losing business to ebay and would like nothing more than to see ebay wiped off the map and are attempting this by inflicting paranoia onto ebay buyers. Callaway has a helpful site in learning more on fakes, Callaway also states that the fusion hybrid has a composite crown and a magnet will not stick to that crown, very helpful info, BUT, they fail to mention that the X hybrid DOES have a metal crown, do you see where the confusion begins? The fusion/hybrid and X hybrid are 2 different clubs, Callaway has confirmed this with me. Contrary to what reviewers will say, Callaway DOES assemble some models in China. Callaway does not place serial numbers on all clubs. Visit your local authorized dealer and see this with your own eyes. This applies to not just golf clubs but everything sold on ebay. Callaway is a fine company with exeptional products and is only being used as an example and not neccesarily guilty of the paranoia factor. Buyer beware is the answer, do your research then ask as many questions as you like, just because one reviewer says one thing it does not mean it is entirely complete or true. Take your item to a dealer for verification afterwards, if it is bogus do not hesitate to report it. Nobody wants a fake and if we all work together we can educate ourselves on reducing the risk. We can all apreciate all the VERO members protecting both themselves and us from counterfeiting, I personally thank them for that, but sometimes it is being taken too far and the situation is being exploited and fear and paranoia is raised simply because of the competition factor. Ebay is falling victim to this exploitation and in the long run all honest to goodness ebayers will suffer. Like it or not, we know there are bogus items out there. Like it or not, the exploitation of the topic is alive and rampant. Do your homework first, a good deal is a terrible thing to waste.
