When cage trapping nuiscance raccoon during the spring and early summer months caution must be taken. This is because there is a great chance that the raccoon caught in the live catch trap is a nursing mother. There is always a chance that there are baby raccoon somewhere in the nieghborhood. Possibly in your own home. Attics, chimneys, and soffiits are probable places that mother raccoon hide there young. ---------- If you trap out the mother only you may have created a much larger problem. Leaving some young raccoons to starve, die, and decay inside your home. ----------- There are many aspects to consider when cage trapping. In my state, trapped animals must be released 5 miles from the point of capture and you must have permission to release them onto someones land. You cannot release them onto state gameland without permission from the manager of the gameland either. -------- Raccoons can carry the rabies virus and also the raccoon roundworm which can be fatal to humans if ingested. The roundworm egg can only be killed by flaming and is carried in raccoon feces. Caution must be used when handling traps soiled with raccoon feces. ----- I am a licensed nuicance trapper and run a small

nuiscance trapping business.
