CRINKLE CLAUS - Part One
965003
An Introduction:
Possible Dreams was established in Foxboro, Massachusetts in 1988. It operated very successfully until May 1996 when it was acquired by Security Capital Corporation, incorporated in Delaware in 1979. Before the acquisition, the primary business of SCC was the operation of an insurance brokerage. In June of 1997, SCC acquired Pumpkin Master. Soon, selected lines of the newly re-titled Possible Dreams Ltd. and Pumpkin Master began receiving priority and preference over other lines. The very successful CRINKLE CLAUS line was one of those who received less attention.
Under the original ownership and management, Possible Dreams intentionally limited availability of certain styles that were still selling well. They figured that while they may lose some sales, they believed it more beneficial to build strong product demand thus assuring long-term collectability. Under the new management, Possible Dreams Ltd dramatically cut production of the CRINKLE CLAUS line in 1998. In 2000, they delivered the last six pieces called the Agriclaus line. CRINKLE CLAUS then ceased completely.
In a surprise to collectors, Possible Dreams Ltd released item 45064 in 2005. We'll have to see if they bring back the series.
The CRINKLE CLAUS series was sold in approximately 15,000 retail shops nationwide. Authorized dealers, who were required to buy and stock more items, received preference and access to pieces not offered to casual retailers. This is why not all stores had all pieces.
A few retailers commissioned special pieces for their location only. Those pieces are listed under "Custom" and one is pictured below. Additionally, some designs were created as potential figures or as salesman's samples but never put into general production.

Continued in Part Two.
ebay limits the number of words that can appear in a Guide. That is why CRINKLE CLAUS was divided into three parts. My apologies for having to toggle between sections.
The complete CRINKLE CLAUS series has been compiled in numerical sequence.
The new list is titled "CRINKLE CLAUS Numbers 1, 2 and 3".
Feel free to make a copy of the list. I am happy to share with other collectors!
I am not a dealer and I do not sell.
