COLLECTING ROYAL BAYREUTH
HISTORY FACTS
-
In 1794 the Royal Bayreuth factory was founded in Tettau, Bavaria.
-
Royal Bayreuth introduced their figural patterns in 1885.
-
Designs of animals, people, fruits and vegetables decorated a vast array of tableware and inexpensive souvenir items.
-
Tapestry wares (Rose Tapestry and other patterns, ie Sunbonnet Babies) were made in the late 19th century. The surface of these wares were felt like and looked like woven cloth. Tapestry ware was made by covering the porcelain with a piece of fabric lightly stretched over the surface and decorating the fabric and glazing the piece and then firing the ware in a kiln.
PORCELAIN MARK
The Royal Bayreuth crest mark varied in design and color. Many wares were unmarked. It is very difficult to verify the chronological years of production due to the lack of records.
Three examples of the Royal Bayreuth Porcelain Marks are:

Items with the Blue Mark are highly sought after!
BUYER BEWARE AS FAKES ARE OUT THERE.
I would suggest investing in a good book on collecting and identifying Royal Bayreuth if you are considering collecting seriously.
