The IDF, also known as the Israeli Defense Forces or Tzava haganah L'Yisrael is Israel's home grown army whose mission always was and will be to defend Israel from its enemies, inside and outside the state. With a State of 6 million Jews and some lesser minorities, the people of Israel have always waged an uphill battle to defend itself. From its early existence in 1948 after an absence of close to 2000, the Jewish Nation has had to use its ingenuity, resourcefulness and Faith in the Almighty to not only survive but to thrive as well. We can only wish that the Almighty God of Israel will enlighten the eyes of Israel's leaders in choosing the true path and that the path to the Final redemption come speedily in our days when the land and the people will usher in the Messianic Age and the rebuilding of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem's Temple Mount once again, Amen.
Collecting items from Israel's IDF is a unique opportunity for lovers of Israel to start. I doubt if there's an object which is worth more than $100, making this collection an affordable one for anyone who has a love for Israel and the Jewish people. What items exist or should exist in such a collection?
First of all there are the Passover haggadot which the IDF puts out, a different edition every year. I usually have in stock at least 5 different editions (ask me about them) and usually carry in my store at least one edition, so go and look! No collection of haggadot would be complete without the very first edition created by Rabbi Shlomo Gorenchick (Goren) as he was known then with his emotional introduction right after the 1948 War Of Independence. Also see the unusual BANNED HAGGADAH currently selling in my Ebay store!
Other items include booklets of the Megillah Esther, touring and sightseeing books for soldiers, Directive pamphlets used in the Army for soldiers, Passover directions for making the Army kitchen kosher, calendars, prayer books, Bibles (see the one in my store) , T-shirts, Torah Bendel , insignia's and even kippot (skull caps) all available at one time or another on ebay by doing a search. If you do become a collector, do send me an email and I will try to get you as many items as I can! Thank you for reading this and please don't forget to vote if this helped you in any way! (PS Come in the future and I will try to post as many photo's of examples as possible from the items I mentioned in this guide).
