In in experience so far, I have found that the best thing to do is to collect what you love. Most people collect something, it starts in childhood, stays with you, and becomes part of who you are. I think almost everyone boy or girl has some kind of collection. Many people saved these things, tucked them away in boxes, and then found them 20 years later.
Some things should be kept forever, and others, the only thing to do is to make peace with parting with them, as they are really not significant. There is not room to collect everything. I tried, it's a mess. Eventually, things got worn out, even being stored..
I think everyone should have a treasure box, that depicts who they really are inside. Like right down to their core. And I have seen that men collect just as often as women, it's just different types of merchandise.
But having a hobby of collecting is just great fun, and on here on Ebay, you can find so many things to collect that you never knew even existed. Things not sold in your area, things you missed getting when they were on the shelves.
And for me, I like to display my items, other people never display them, and love to know they are safely stored away, unopened. It's so personal, it's whatever works for you. I found that my taste hasn't changed that much over time, and things I liked when I was little, are still the type of things that spark my eye now.
We all work hard and have to have perks, and treat ourselves to things. I walked into my collection corner every day, and I like it every day. It lights up my house.
Many things come into the market, some I like, others I don't. I don't just collect because it's popular for the moment, I do collect things I love. It's not even a matter of collecting alot, it's more about collecting things that matter and mean something to me. That is so individual for everyone. What one person may like, others may not, and it's value is measured on what it means to you.
I think people that don't give in to their desires to splurge on themselves and buy fun things always feel like something is missing. When I was younger, the toy market was very small, and there were not toys like their are today. So it was very important to protect and value the toys we had and to take care of my collection now.
It was a big part of adult life for me, to splurge and buy things I love, that were just not available when I was younger. I recommend for all people, men and women, to find a way to save and plan to put some sort of income into collecting fun things. I couldn't do it for myself until I turned 40 because everything else was a priority before that, and it's not something that people can do during all times in their life. It might only be a few years where you have that opportunty, and I choose to collect what I really love, not everything that appears on shelves.
If I hadn't ever built up my beautiful collection, I would be a totally different person. The whole journey to finding all of the things that I collected, was just a really great experience that lasted for years. And now, I don't add much to it, because it was so carefully selected and is just what I wanted.
I recommend it to everyone - collect what you love, and love your collection. It's value is measured on what it means to you.
