CLEANING YOUR MONITORS: USE CAUTION
It has come to my attention after cleaning several of my screens that cleaning your monitor screens with certain products maybe harmful. I was lucky and did not damage my screens!
Use caution when cleaning off your monitor CRT and LCD screens.
Many of the Screen Cleaners that are sold in kits could potentially be harmful to your CRT/LCD screens and cause discoloration and streaking.
Generally, product packaging does not list or state all the ingredients in their cleaning product.
However, one should read the instruction manual on the computer monitor for care and cleaning, plus recommended products. It should be noted that most if not all computer/monitor companies do not recommend using Industrial- strength cleaners or petroleum-(oil) based products on your monitors, whether they are CRT or LCD, as these products can cause discoloration and streaking of the monitor. Thus damaging the monitor and the quaility of the screen imaging.
As an added note regarding LCD screens . . .using cleaning containing alcohol or ammonia are also harmful.
Please follow the manual cleaning instructions and guideline for best results. If a problem develops from the manuals instructions and you followed them you will have some recourse in getting your monitor replaced by the company.
