Some Retail Stores are using CCTV as their only way of stopping shoplifters.  This is not a good idea as who will watch all that tape just to see if they spot a shoplifter.  The CCTV option is good for catching an employee theft or a break in after hours. 

The best way to deter shoplifters from stealing your inventory is to use the old method of Loss Prevention -- the security towers, gates, pillars.  The clothes are tagged with either a hard tag or a paper label and if they try to remove them from the store without paying first then the system puts out a ringing sound to alert the store personnel that there is a theft in the works.
