Can't Find Your Listing? Here Are Some Answers For Sellers!
When verifying your listings, you can't find them? This has happened to me and I have found out why!
Note that a seller's listings will appear in My eBay before they are found anywhere else! To be found in a category or search, the listing must be indexed into eBay's database!
Store items do not show up in auction searches or auction categories, but will show up in Search by Seller/"view seller's other items", eBay Stores search, and Store categories. If there are fewer than 30 store listings in seach results, up to 30 store listings will be shown at the bottom of the auction listings page!
Finding Your Auction Items In Category Listings:
Your Items will usually appear in the category listing within 4 hours; this could be longer if the eBay system gets overloaded! This has happened to me on high selling days, some Fridays, holidays or when eBay runs a special listing incentive like 25¢ listings days!
Finding Your Items in eBay's Search:
Items must be indexed into eBay's database before they can be searched. There are several kinds of indexes: title, title and description, seller's other items. All of these will index at different times!
Note that some categories take longer to index. such as electronics and vehicles. Also designer items with key words such as Coach and Versace will take longer as eBay will be verifying if your items are authentic!
The search engine itself will only find the exact words you have put in your title or description. Mary Kay will not come up if you have put in MaryKay or MK. If you want your item to come up in Mary Kay you put that in your title or description.
Title Search: Items can usually be found in title search within 6 hours. Always longer if there was maintenance or downtime prior to your listing or if the system is overloaded!
Title and description search: Items can usually be found in title and description search within 10 hours. Can be longer as stated above. This database indexes all the words in your description, subtitle and title!
Product finder: Some categories such as Event Tickets use a special function called the Product Finder. The Product Finder usually indexes "item specifics" within 2 hours. If you combine regular search and the Product Finder's function to look for your listing, allow enough time for the listing to have been indexed into all the relevant databases!
Notes:
Contact eBay if your items isn't indexed or "found" after 12 hours!
If you revise a listing before it is indexed it will take a lot longer for your item to be found in searches! It pulls it out of the queue delaying the index process. So check you ads for accuracy before submitting. You don't want this to happen to your listing!
If your listing never comes up, read it carefully. eBay will not index lisings that have profanity in them, even unintentionally, and you will get no warning! Are you spelling shirt without the "r"? Are you selling tires? Don't use the slang word for the little rubber pips. Are you quoting the tracks of a CD you're selling? (CD titles are an exception to the eBay policy against profanity, but it will still keep them from indexing!)
Hope this helps clarify and helps you index and find your listing faster!
