The RC hobby can be a fun and expensive hobby!!

Ask any RC hobbyist, and they will agree that the fun comes at a cost. Usually an empty wallet!! LOL!! Here are a few things to consider when diving into the world of RC.

1. Battery or Nitro fueled?

The Pros of Batteries: (1)Good run time (2)You can save money if you use rechargeables.(3)Their are many battery and motor configurations.

The Cons of Batteries: (1) Buying the Batteries, this can get a bit pricey, especially with battery packs. (2) If there isn't a charger around where you run, your day can end pretty quick.

The Pros of Nitro: (1)Great run time (2) Quick refueling (3)Noise can annoy the neighbors

The Cons of Nitro:(1)Tuning, Tuning, Tuning!! LOL!! (2) Cost of fuel ( you think regular gas is expensive? Though, a gallon will last you a lot longer!) (3)Noise can annoy the neighbors

Recommended Battery powered RC: Losi Mini-t

Recommended Nitro powered RC: Traxxas T-maxx

2. Time

Usually with the battery powered RC vehicles you are pretty much RTR(ready to run)

With Nitro powered RC vehicles you have to break in the engine. This can be fun, but a little time consuming. Don't you dare full throttle that engine!! LOL

3. Place

Make sure you have somewhere to run your new RC. These things need a lot of room.

4. Money

Once you have had your RC vehicle for a while. You will realize you have spent just about as much as you paid for it, just to keep it running. The cost of fuel, batteries, and replacement parts can add up. Especially the replacement parts, I had to replace parts on my T-maxx the day after I bought it. Apparently, T-maxxs' and Walls don't mix. LOL!!

5. Upgrades, and More Upgrades!!!

Once you've gotten your RC vehicle down pretty well, the Upgrade bug comes knocking!!  You see all these tricked out models like yours, and for some reason, you have to do the same thing. Before I even owned mine for a year, I had already spent hundreds of dollars in upgrades. Bigger motor here, better shocks there, you know. The only advice I can give here is to buy them one by one, not all at once. Find out what works.

The RC hobby can be a fun and frustrating, but once you work through all the little bumps, you will see why the RC hobby is so popular. If you have a problem with your RC, I suggest checking the manufacturers website, you can find all kinds of info there. You can also go to your local hobby shop, they may be able to help, if not fix your problem. I hope this guide helps you in your jump into the RC hobby. Here are a few inside tips before I go.

1. Never leave leftover fuel in your fuel tank.

2. Disconnect and remove the batteries when not in use.

3. Keep it clean

4. Save, Save, Save, your money!!!

5. Never agree to a demolition derby, unless you have been saving your money!! LOL

                                                         HAVE FUN!!!!
