There are many types of Personal Watercraft Covers on the market. Finding the one that is right for you is the key in being happy with your purchase.
How do you want to use your cover?
As a dust cover
Trailerable Cover
Mooring Cover
Dust Cover - A cheap general fit cover would be fine. This cover would never see the sun, weather or be trailered.
Trailerable Cover - The cover should be fitted to your model. A general fit cover will flap in the wind when you trailer it. Flapping causes wear to your cover and boat. The cover will mark your gelcoat and rub your hand grips off. A cover should also be made of a quality fabric so it doesn't fade or the color doesn't rub off or transfer color on to your boat or seat.
Mooring Cover - The way that you store your boat, either on a lift or tethered in the water will affect the way your cover needs to be designed. Your cover should be made of a quality fade resistant, water resistant fabric. Your boat will receive tons of sun and weather so your cover should be made to protect it. A fitted cover will resist pooling of water. A strapless design will insure it stays on without the hassle of getting wet while trying to secure a strap.
Fabric - Surlast Solution-Dyed Polyester is the best fabric for your cover. It is made in the USA and held to very high standards. The fabric is fade resistant, water resistant, and the color will not rub off or transfer its color. The manufacturer of Surlast, also makes Sunbrella, also know in the marine industry for its superior fade resistant qualities. Surlast fabric is the choice fabric of OEM covers for Yamaha, Honda, Polaris, Mastercraft, Baja, Malibu and other high end manufacturers.
Other fabric will not last as long and perform as well as Surlast so take that in account when comparing price and life expectancy.
