Easy steps can be taken to find the best possible cell phone for you. I have always had Verizon. They are a decent service, but when it comes to selling phones, most don't really care what's the best for you. They care about selling their phones. Your phone should be attractive to you, functional for you, and have a speed that you can work with.
Step one: IS NOT TO GO TO THE STORE FIRST!!!!! Lots of people miss this one. Ask around. Ask friends/coworkers/family members what cell they have and if they like it. What do they not like? See if they will let you play around with theirs. If I had done this the first time, I would have saved myself about $300. It's smart so try that first. Ok... now you know kinda what you want.
Step two: Visit the store during a busy time and tell them you are just looking. Look at the models. Play with them. And above all LISTEN. You can learn lots from just hanging around the store for an hour or so. Listen especially to the customer service complaints about phones. Listen for the ones that need to be serviced often. If you hear the same model mentioned twice by two different people, forget that phone immediately. Don't even go near it.
Step three: Pick out a phone that you think you may like. Look at it closely. Make a note to point out anything that you DON"T like when considering a phone. Don't gloss over and compromise. "I really need bluetooth and this one doesn't have it, but it's SOOO PRETTY!" That's bad. No NO NO. Don't gloss. Stick to what you came for. Once you think you have decided, go home. Think about that one overnight before deciding that's the phone for you.
Step four: Return to the store after 24 hours and purchase your phone. Get the rep and make sure it has everything that you are wanting. Pick out the color and accessories you want. IMPORTANT: Ask about a return policy or warranty. Get all that information in print.
Step five: Pay for your phone. ADD THE INSURANCE. It's only a couple bucks extra and it will pay for itself if you have children or teens around. The insurance is great for when the warranty runs out and the speaker breaks. Or 15 year old Suzie dropped it in the road and it got smashed. Yes. That's covered.
Step six: Enjoy your new phone!
