First decide what you want from your fence.

1. Is it to just contain your dog?

2. Do you want to contain & train your dog?

3. Cost how much do you want to spend.

Petsafe makes a great system to contain your dog or dogs the installation is simple and I would suggest you buy the deluxe system so you can adjust the setting on the collar to match your dogs temperment. The only draw backs are you have to buy seperate lightening protection ( a must) and you'll have to replace the batteries every 3 months or so.

Innotek ultrasmart systems are my choice and suggestion for others who want the reliability and ability to have a containment and traing system in one collar.  IE the ultrasmart contain & train 5100. This system combines both a remote trainer and containment system in one rechareable collar.

The remote training feature works anywhere your dog is. In the yard at the park in your house or even at the lake. Yes it's also waterproof. You don't have to pay a fortune to get a great system.
