Many times, a buyer sees a book listed as "book club edition" (or similar) and might think it is inferior to a "regular" edition. IT IS NOT. Generally the Book Club edition is exactly the same as the original publisher's version. The jacket art is even the same sometimes. Publication dates of Book Club books are sometimes difficult to figure out as they are not generally shown anywhere inside the book, but that information can usually be found online or through some other source.
If you are considering buying a book, don't bypass these Book Club editions as options because if you do you may miss out on a quality option ! If you are wanting to buy only original publisher first editions or editions that have some special feature then Book Club editions may not be for you. But if you are just interested in getting a good quality edition of a book, be sure and consider Book Club editions --- and sometimes they can even save you a little money !
Ultimately, since each book is different, look at the listing to determine if it meets your needs. And quite often a Book Club edition can do just that.
