If you buy or own a used Husqvarna chain saw more than 7 years old, be aware that they have changed the bar and chain.

After several years of owning a Husky 51 model, my last chain finally wore out so I went to get a new one and something about it didn't seem right. I got home with it and it would not fit properly. I finally found out that husky has changed the width of the gap in the bar to a smaller  1.3mm gap whereas the old  bars had a 1.5mm gap and took a bigger chain. You can not find the older bars in any stores or chain saw shops and if you want one , you have to special order it. The new bars and chains are lighter (wimpier) than the old ones and I will soon find out if they last anywhere near as long.
