The Ottoman empire which lasted some 600 years, ruled most of the Middle East, Asia and parts of Europe, minted huge amounts of gold coins to supply the local trade markets, these coins are now considered colelctibles and they are hotly sought after.
When buying Ottoman Gold coins, make sure you begin with the common 100 kurush (piasters) coin which weighs some 7.8 grams of gold, these coins are quite common normally and they sell for a hair above gold value. Note that some years are quite rare and they can go sky high.
The most impressive of all Ottoman Gold coins are the 500 Kurush which is a heavy massive gold coin. Availability is limited, be prepared to pay high prices for these gems. Since these were scarce then, expect to find ones in good conditions..
Zeri Mahbub, Altin, are names of old Ottoman coins too. But the most sparkling are the Ottoman Monnais Lux, these were special coins minted to be used are Imperial Gifts and presents, they are quite rare and considered pure colelction gems.. They detail and color are un-mistakable.. Be prepared for a hottly contested fight on ebay for these !!!!
enjoy collecting !!
