One thing i find great pleasure in doing is buying original art on ebay.
BE WARNED, not all listings are what they seem! I have been duped several times while buying art on ebay.
Some sellers do not state that they are selling a print and NOT the original. If it is not stated in the description plain as day I message the seller and ask if it is a print or the original. Many times it turns out to be the real deal but once in awhile, the seller writes back and says its a print. Why not state that in the description?
When buying original art, you must consider a lot of factors. Are you buying it because it means something to you? Are you buying it to decorate a certain room with certain colors or a certain theme? Or do you collect all things on a certain subject? Size is always important. One thing I love to collect are ACEO's. they are small and I store them in a binder on the table that all guests are free to browse through. Each new one gets added to the book and everyone is delighted to see the variety of my collection. Another thing to consider is style. Abstract? Outsider? Pop? Modern? Folk? I could go one forever. Materials- Collage, paintings, watercolor, charcoal drawings, etc. And cost- I always consider the artist when buying art on Ebay. I am an artist myself and just because a piece is cheap does not mean it is poor quality. And just because it is expensive that does not mean it is a masterpiece.
When I buy a piece of art, i view it as an investment. When I make art, I assume my buyers think the same way I do.
Without art, this world would be very boring and bland. So help support all of the artists on ebay and go browse for original art on. You will be suprised at what creative minds there are just a click away!
