Buying treasures on ebay is every ones intent when they open a fresh account. Some of us are looking for collectibles, some of us shop for everyday items and some of us shop for those hard to find items that only Ebay can provide. No matter how you look at it ebay is the ultimate resource for purchasing things that don't just sit on the shelf at your local merchant's shelf.
I would like to share with you some of the techniques I've exercised, to maximize my satisfaction /profits /and ratings that have driven me to become not only an ebay buyer but also a seller.
I started this endeavour just like everyone else.... searching for that one thing i wanted/ needed that wasn't available to me locally. Some said "hey check on Ebay" So as suggested I did, not only did I find what I was looking for, I also found it reasonably priced. After purchasing my first item from an Ebay merchant I was very satisfied and wondered "Wow what else is there to be had?"
Well let me tell you "To be had" is a term that should be used very loosely on Ebay because you can find anything on Ebay!
I made some purchases that I found to be lucrative and others that were "OK" but all of them were satisfying endeavors. Sometimes the wait would irritate me if I had a slow shipper but I have learned to be patient and haven't had a problem since. You can't blame a seller for postal errors (believe me I know)
The first proven technique for buying I would like to share is to be aggressive, the way I do this is look at "ENDING SOONEST" in the category you are searching. You can basically gather that the auctions with 1 or 2 minutes left have reached their bidding potential, if you want it.....BID ON IT! because the likely-hood of the guy with the highest bid at that point, probably isn't sitting in front of his computer like you are at that particular moment. Sometimes "that guy" has bid more than your willing to pay, in this case let him have it! Otherwise it's yours!
The next move is to check "LOWEST FIRST" Here you will find mostly auctions that have several days to go or cheap merchandise, (common sense will separate these) If you find something your looking for at a great starting price here, go ahead and type in your maximum bid, worst case scenario someone out bids you, but you don't have anything to worry about because Ebay will continue to bid, up to your maximum offer. This is a method that is fool proof, there is literally no way you can lose!
My third and final piece of advise is to be conservative, if you have someone bidding ridiculously high on something that you want, let him or her have it because the same product is likely available, or going to be available again at a lower bidding price, that you will have a crack at, so don't get caught up in an auction war. They cost you $$!
So in closing I hope to have not confused you by saying "Be aggressive / Be conservative" Because both have their advantages.
I have used the preceding 3 techniques and managed to open an Ebay store in less than 1 year, using for the most part only Ebay as a resource. Good luck to anyone who reads this guide and I wish you the very best!
