Just saw a post on new machines from China, Said "Buyer Beware, China Machines Everywhere"
I bought a machine before I saw this post. It was a 12x36 lathe, made in China, and I can happily say its a very good value for the money. I did go see the machine before I bought it, but it is a nicely crafted machine.
It says made in China right on it and I see no bad things or quirks in this machine or my other smaller machines. I have many machines at work made in China, Taiwan and the USA. This one looks to be a real nice lathe so far. It does run nice and work well.
One thing to point out that one set of advice says buy a machine that is made of Cast Steel, they said that cast iron is NO GOOD for machines. Are you kidding? Cast iron absorbs vibration, and makes the perfect base metal for machine tools. I have never seen or heard of a machine tool made from cast steel in my life. Cast iron is what they have used since machines were invented, and it is what ALL of the best machines were made out of, and its what is still in use today. My Monarch 10EE was made from Cast Iron. If it was cast steel it would ring like a bell when you cut on it.
I have had good luck with Ebay so far, so I will continue to use it, I have saved a lot of money and foind a lot of good things on here.
