There is a lot of hype to whether one should buy expired test strips or not. Ok here is the deal.

1. If you don't test very often you shouldn't buy them. The reason being is because the expired test strips are not being used up. Once that bottle is open obviously it is probably going to loose it effectivness a lot faster.

Personally I think only people who are well controlled diabetics should use expired test strips, and those who test blood sugars very often. Like numerous times of day. You also should have a back up meter, and strips to check and see if a result is off.

I have recieved test strips from a neighbor that were in a car or truck fire. I used them even after the strips expired. The only think I noticed different was that, if my hand were not scrubbed extremely clean my reading were off. I have a really good a1c and very level blood sugars. I haven't had one issue with expired test strips but this is only them being up to three months expired.

Like I said if you can predict what your blood sugar is most of the time, you will be able to judge whether a reading is off, because of the strips, or if its' your blood sugar. Always have a back up meter or back up strips or control solution handy.

I think anyone should only buy sealed test strips, whether expired or not. You never know what people are capable of doing. I wouldn't buy test strips on here unless I had a meter that is less then a year old, and control solution to check each vial for accuracy.

I wouldn't spend a ton of money either. Remember walmart sells strips 45 dollars or so for a 100, so I will not go over that for a 100 test strips that is the total of with shipping. It is not worth it. The strips at walmart are as accurate as the good name brand, but I come here, and I get deals for cheaper sometimes....I avidly watch.

I am concerened on how much people are actually selling this stuff for. When like I metioned above you can get good strips cheaper. Beware atleast you know where your strips are coming from. It is sickening how people are making loads of money off of diabetics who do not have insurance like myself at this point, and with me having to test up to 10x's a day because of an insulin pump, it is sad.

This is a very expensive disease, we all should be helping each other out, not price gouging like gas prices, I am sure the sellers that sell these strips complain about that, but don't care what they do to people.

I write this so the people that come on here that are as broke as I trying to find a good deal just be patient, dont spend more then what you can get for a cheaper version, it's not worth it. I have gotten pretty decent deals so far. But I know I have my off brand strips and meter if I am running out and cannot find a deal.....I just want people to save money, not waste it.....

I hope this helps....
