Technology is rapidly developing exponentially faster every single day. Buying a computer is an investment you ARE going to lose money in, always. That video card that was once $600-$700 new is now $250. Same with other components. Buying a computer is hard if you don't know exactly what you're doing. Building your own computer will always be cheaper. If you're in it for a big dollar gaming machine, the best you can get is around $4500. That's with all the best you can get if you assemble it yourself and order all the parts from a site like Newegg. Personally I think spending more than 2k is ridiculous. But hey, this is an eBay review so let's get to it!
Buying whole computers is okay if you're looking at office work, or you don't know how the hell you put hardware in your computer. Before you buy anything off eBay, you should check Newegg for your parts. Compare prices, shipping, tax, quality, etc. Don't buy the first thing you see on eBay. Take your time searching for the best deal. Buying from people who sell computers and parts primarily is a good way to go because their prices are generally lower than those of regular sellers. Kids now a days can assemble entire computers, buy your parts online and have some schmuck build it for you for 20 bucks.
So before you buy a computer, ask yourself the following questions, and before you buy something, check with someone who knows about this sort of stuff, .
1. How much am I going to spend?
2. Where am I going to find the best deal?
3. Is this going to get the job done?
4. And most important - Am I gonna get ripped off?
Notes: ALWAYS read the entire description of the item. Read it twice, and when you're done, read it again. You wouldn't want to end up like the guy that bought three Playstations for $900 believing it was a Playstation 3.
