When buying an RV on Ebay we suggest you do a little bit of homework to help avoid potential mistakes.  The first is to check out the seller.  When checking a sellers feedback see what the feedback consists of.  A high feedback rating alone will not insure a smooth transaction.  What you are looking for is a person who regularly sells RV's.  This way you know they have experience in describing their units. It's not to say do not buy from someone with non RV feedback or low RV feedback, you will just have to do more homework to insure things are what they appear.  In that case you may want to hire someone local to the unit to inspect it. Most sellers who specialize in one type of product are constantly trying to improve their business. So you will tend to get more honest descriptions and a seller who is willing to work with you in the event of a misunderstanding or disagreement. Before bidding on a specific RV be sure to read all of the text in that auction.  Understand the terms and conditions, equipment list, condition of the RV, etc.  If anything is unclear don't be afraid to ask questions - there are no stupid questions.  The professional Ebay seller wants you to have a clear understanding of his auction.  Seller terms vary from seller to seller so it is always important to read each sellers terms.  If there is something in the terms you do not like or wish were different you should ask the seller if he would change those things to accomodate you.  It is important that you ask - becoming the winning bidder then asking for these changes is considered to be rude and will probably cause the seller to not want to change his original terms. And he could refuse to complete the transaction and sell to another bidder.  Another important point is to make sure you are financially prepared to complete your transaction in the time allowed via the sellers terms.  Most sellers use Ebay for the time factor in which you can sell something.  If you need to arrange financing or expect the seller to arrange financing after you have won an auction that may cause a problem.  Discuss this upfront with the seller before winning the item, that way everyone will be an the same page.   When bidding there seem to be a few misconceptions.  One that  I hear a lot is watch out for bidders with "0" feedback, myth is they are just the seller bidding up his own auction.  While we have all heard of this happening it is the exception not the rule.  Most of the sellers I have come accross on Ebay operate professionally and want to do right by their bidders.  Do some research and know what the value of the RV is and know what you are willing to pay for a particular unit so that you are prepared when the auction is getting closer to the end. If you are prepared, in the last few minutes of the auction you will have the knowledge needed to increase your bid.  Many people follow an auction for days and they see an incredibly low bid amount 3 or 4 days into a 5 day auction.  They tend to get focused on that low amount and when the price gets more realistic the last hours or minutes of the auction they don't know whether to bid more or not.  Use the ebay help link and understand proxy bidding.  This will will help you be more successful.  With a good understanding of proxy bidding you will not be outbid at the last second.  Next when you become the successful winning bidder I reccommend you contact the seller right away either by phone or email.  If you do not reach them on the phone be sure to email them your phone number and the best time to contact you.  Most sellers are going to expect a deposit within a day or two.  This is normal, but I suggest you proceed with caution if the seller has a low feedback rating or does not sell a lot of RVs.  And last when picking up your RV, if it is a preowned RV expect its condition to reflect that.  You should find normal wear and tear consistant with its age. And any big discrepencies between the auction listing and the actual unit need to be brought to the sellers attention.  Most sellers want you to be satisfied and will do what is neccessary to achieve that goal. Good luck on your RV purchase!
