With the Give 1 Get 1 Program having finished at the end of 2007 it is now impossible to buy an OLPC XO anywhere apart from eBay.
During the program I would have frowned upon buying or selling an XO on eBay as buying through the G1G1 program instead would have provided a child in a developing country with a laptop as well at no cost to the buyer.
However, with the end of the G1G1 program there is now no moral reason not to buy or sell these incredible machines on eBay - indeed buying one and becoming part of the international user community provides many opportunities to help the program and develop resources for the children for whom the laptop was ultimately designed.
Given the complete lack of commercial availability I would recommend buying sooner rather than later as the price is likely to skyrocket as the profile of the OLPC project increases and the number of people willing to sell their laptops dwindles.
I got my laptop today and was absolutely blown away - it's the coolest thing I've ever seen!
