Buy the direct thermal printer LP2844, not the direct transfer TLP2844. I put (LP2844, 2844) in the search box. It is best if you can get one with USB port. Read very carefully the detail description, look at the photo of the back of the printer if included in listing, and if you see conflicting information make sure you ask the seller if there is a USB port in the back to confirm. I didn't read the description carefully and bought one that said you can buy a USB/parallel cable very cheaply on eBay. That means the printer doesn't have a USB port. I bought a cheap USB/parallel cable from a ebay seller but it didn't work. Luckily the seller gave me full refund. I went to best buy and staples to checkout the USB/paraleel cable they sell there and both of them work. The brands are Belkin and Dynex, which you can get much cheaper on eBay.
Also a lot of the printers sold do not come with a power supply. That will cost you $20-30 extra, if not more, unless you can find a better deal. The Zebra printer takes 20V 2A AC power supply such as a Hitek Plus120 adapter. So factor that into your bid. I think if you can get a working Zebra LP2844 with power supply, usb/parallel cable if it doesn't have a usb port, and shipping for $75, it is a pretty good price.
Setting up the printer was relatively easy so I am not going to go into it. But I will write about networking the printer in a separate guide.
