Ebay is a great place to find wood for guitars. With some simple searches you can find quite a bit of wood for your latest guitar project, and sometimes even a steal of a deal.
When looking for wood for my guitar business, I will usually search for the nearest lumber yard, or luthier supply place. Often times, these places have great selection, but prices seem to be failry high unless I buy a truckload. If you are in a hurry, they may be the best way to go, but a simple seach on ebay can find you some nice peices. -Instead of searching for broad topics like "Guitar Wood" or "Tonewood" try searching for a specifc kind of wood. Even if it's not something you will use, the nice things about Ebay is it has some other suggested searches right above the list you find. You may search for "brazilian rosewood" and see other searches for woods like Indian Rosewood, Blackwood, or other woods you may have not thought of before. It turns out to be nice to learn about new kinds of woods and see everyhting Ebay has to offer. -If you are looking for buy it now, and don't want to get into bidding wars, try to find an Ebay store that sells the wood and save them on your "Favorite Sellers" list, so you can get emails from them with specials on new stuff. Many companies have great prices that are buy it now, for really good deals. -If you want to find a great last second deal search the broader topics above and see if something cool is ending soon. Many of these are obvious, but hopefully they are helpful for those looking for good deal. Portersrv
