When you are buying clothing for resale it is very important to know exactly what you are buying. All too often a buyer will get excited when they see a "great deal" and find the lowest priced merchandise. Unfortunatly when the recieve the merchandise they are quite dissapointed and left with a pile of unsellable goods.
You must understand what you are buying. First you need to know if you are buying shelf pulls, overstock, customer returns, 1st or 2nd quality or used clothing.
Shelf pulls and overstock merchandise are the best. These items simply did not sell and where pulled straight from the store shelfs and shipped to the suppliers warehouse. They will usually have the tags attached. There may be some undesireable pieces like petites or older kids sizes but all in all these are the best load.
Customer returns can be okay but they tend to have tags missing, have been worn, may have zippers broken and buttons missing and in general have some type of damage.
First quality and irregulars either have something that didn't make the grade or the sizing is off. The color could be off or a Size 6 could fit like a 4. These are often sold at outlet stores.
Seconds are junk and all damaged so don't touch those.
The more you buy the less you will pay. Jobbers by giant loads from the big retailers then break those down into pallets for the resellers who in turn sell on ebay, their website, or pose as middleman wholesalers.
On average you will find clothing from $6.50 to $8.50 a piece. Swimwear can run around $11-$12. Designer labels will cost you quite a bit more. A lot of companies will sell loads of 100. Bigger companies will sell lots of 500 affording you a better deal.
If you have the resources the best way to go is to buy a truckload. You could get the same pieces others are buying for $8-$25 a piece for as little as $2.50 to $3.00! What you must understand though is this will include everything! It wont be just the premium items you want. Youll be buying some accessories or lingerie and things like that. Half truck loads will run around 5,000 piece and full 53' truckload usually carry 20,000 pieces. You do the math on the investment.
Also be careful when buying loads that you not getting accessories thrown in. This is how those load that look like a great deal for only $3.50 or $4.00 a piece will get you in trouble. Also be aware of vendors who cherry pick. In this day of the internet its pretty easy to research who you are buying from.
Most importantly, start slow and build. Don't make a $5,000 investment with someone you've never done business with. Donald trump didn't become a millionaire over night and you can't become a millionaire on ebay overnight either. However if you do your research and plan you can make a great profitable stay at home business selling on ebay.
