Two words...
WATCH OUT!
There are some excellent offers on eBay for wholesale CDs and DVs - but likewise there are some really poor collections you might buy by accident. So how can you tell the difference? Well, make sure there is a list of titles. If there is a collection, say, of 500 CDs and the seller says "there are artists such as x, y, z, a and b" - you know, famous names. Understand that they have only listed 5 artists, without lying they would only need to provide 5 CDs out of 500 with those names - the rest? Well, put it this way, when there is not a clear list of titles and artists, you will usually find that when you open your parcel there are dozens of CDs by foreign, non English language artists, many demo CDs meant only for DJs to play (actually some of these can be rarities - so it's not always bad), and you will get overstock items, like 25 copies of a CD from a C list artist of the '80s.
This also goes for DVDs. Unless you are careful you may find a load of poorly copied far east imports (Kung Fu, action etc), or remaindered items even Blockbuster couldn't sell.
Also remember, the less money being asked, the less likely it is that you are getting a good selection. If you are buying bulk it is likely you plan to sell them. In which case don't think you can buy CDs valued at $10 for $1. You won't find many of those. But at $4 or $5 you might.
So what am I saying? Don't be taken in by clever writing that makes the collection sound superb. Insist on having a list of the CDs or DVDs so you will know exactly what you are paying for, or you may be disappointed.
Oh, and how do I know this? I used to run a second hand book and record store. It took me a few eBay purchases before I found the good stuff that my customers would buy. Remember, if it sounds too cheap for it to be true, check it out thoroughly, it may be just that - too good to be true. The wholesaler won't lie to you - and they often have a gift with words and layout, so just ensure you ask the right questions and know what it is you are bidding on.
