I'd just like to take some time and share some knowledge for all who are interested and may not know. Since nobody else has created a Guide for Oilers Tickets at Rexall Place as of the first writing of this guide, let me pass off some advice to perspective buyers.
With over 100 consecutive sellouts, we all know that Oilers tickets can be in high demand, and when it comes to buying them, sometimes e-bay is the only way to purchase them, but you have to be careful, not all sellers disclose the actual seat information. Don't get me wrong, there are tonnes of great deals to be had on E-bay when buying Oilers tickets, you just have to be a bit saavy when bidding.
There are 2 main types of seats in the Rexall.
1) Full view, Actual Seats
2) Standing Room Only
1) FULL VIEW ACTUAL SEATS
Full view actual seats are seats where you can see the entire ice surface, this is what the majority of buyers have in mind when they want to purchase tickets. Most E-Bayers will post if they are full view actual seats, these are the ones that sell at a premium price.
2) STANDING ROOM ONLY
These seats mean as the name suggests, you have to stand. Make sure you ask the seller if they are standing room or not. If the seller states they are not standing room and they end up being standing room, the seller did not disclose pertinent information and e-bay should be contacted immediately. Imagine buying a tickets, expecting a nice night at the game, and finding out you have to stand for several hours, no imagine you paid the same price as a person beside you with a seat.
GENERAL PRICING DIFFERENCES
The Oilers imposed a pricing scheme based on the team that they play. Premium teams (Calgary for example) are priced as a Blue game, where teams such as Chicago are priced as a Copper game. Essentially if the game is Blue, expect to pay more, and on e-bay many of these tickets go for more than face value. If you just want to see a game and it doesn't matter what team the Oilers are playing, check the Oilers website and find the closest Copper game, these tickets go for a lower price, on e-bay I have seen the same tickets have almost $100 price difference between a Blue and Copper game. Games that are Copper are upwards of nearly 20% cheaper than games that are labelled Blue at the box office. Make sure that you know which team corresponds to which game. Some sellers (not many, but some) will sell Copper tickets at a Buy Now price for more than what a Blue game goes for.
Below is the 2007/2008 pricings for a single seat for a Blue and a Copper game, use this as a guide to compare what a seller may be charging, as many sellers claim their tickets to be at or better than face value. DO NOT BE AFRAID to ask what section the seats fall in, you are protected from fraud by e-bay and paypal (if you use it.)
BLUE GAMES (2007/2008)
Gold($215), Silver($192), Executive($137), Executive Terrace ($125), Terrace($100), Colonnade($72), Gallery($46), Standing ($42), Barrier Free($72)
COPPER GAMES (2007/2008)
Gold($187), Silver($167), Executive($119), Executive Terrace ($109), Terrace($187), Colonnade($62), Gallery($40), Standing ($36), Barrier Free($62)
NOTE: There are various websites that allow people to see a simulated view from their seats. I am unable, due to e-bay policy to provide a link, however, if you use google search, you will be able to get an approximate view of the ice surface from your perspective seats as well as a seating chart to see which seat section you will be located in.
Hope this helps and best of bidding to everyone.
