This guide is for bargain hunters who are looking for new Gymboree clothing for their children, and possibly resale.  On Ebay you will find many wholesale lots that sell for about 40 percent of the retail price or 60 percent off retail.  If you shop the actual stores and on-line site for Gymboree you can get much better deals!

Gymboree comes out with new lines about every 6 weeks.  At that point their stock is rotated back to a discount section.  Each line is first discounted at 20 percent off, then 40 percent off, then 60 percent off and finally to the clearance rack in the back of the store.  Items are often still in season when they hit the clearance rack.  A quick check of clearance items on their website revealed savings of up to 79 percent off retail before any additional discounts!

There are several combinations that will yield the greatest amount of clothing for the least price.

1. Only buy deeply discounted merchandise 60 percent off or better.
2. Use Gymbucks
3. Shop during Circle of Friends COF
4. Shop during the Red Hot Dot sale RHD
5. Gain stockroom access.

The goal is to combine as many of the above as possible!  Here they are detailed:
Gymbucks are dollars earned at Gymboree for use on their products.  Several times throughout the year Gymboree offers "Gymbucks Earning Time" followed by "Gymbucks Redemption Time."  During Gymbucks Earning Time you earn a $25 Gymbuck for every $50 you spend at the stoore or on-line.  It is best to spend in $50 increments :$50, $100, $150, etc. to maximize your savings.  Gymbucks earning time generally lasts about 6 weeks and you can earn at several stores and on-line.

Several days later they begin a much shorter 7-10 day Gymbucks Redemption period.  This is when you can shop at the stores or on-line and use each earned Gymbuck for $25 off every $50 purchase.  Again you'll save the most by keeping as close to $50 increments as possible.  For example if you have earned 6 Gymbucks, you spent $300 during earning time, and now purchase another $300 worth of clothing, you'll only pay $150.  So you've bought $600 worth of clothing for $450 or earned 25 percent off of all.  Now if that $600 was spent on items all from the clearance rack at an average of 60 percent off retail, you actually purchased $1,500 worth of clothing for $450  or 70 percent off retail.

Circle of Friends is a flat 30 percent off your entire purchase and is often available during Gymbucks earning time.  You must either sign up at the store, request a coupon from a salesperson or sign up for email coupons through Gymboree's website.  There is usually a short time that you can redeem your COF coupon and it is only good for one purchase.

Red Hot Dot Sale is another sale in which Gymboree has marked items simply $5, $10, $15, etc.  Many shoppers who do not want to bother with Gymbucks find this sale to be their favorite for getting Gymboree merchandise at affordable prices.

Stock Room Access is often granted to frequent Gymboree shoppers.  You can ask if they have any outdated lines in the back room.  The salespeople want to sell all of their stock, but only put out what they think is most desirable.  If the clearance rack is really full, they most likely have more in the back.

With these tips you'll find it easy to clothe your children in Gymboree for the same prices as a discount retailer.  I'm still surprised when someone comments that Gymboree clothing is expensive.  Do they really think I paid full price?
