I have been on Ebay since 1999 and bought many things. Recently we decided to buy a motorhome on Ebay. What a mistake. The first motorhome we bought we used Buy It Now for $ 32,500.00. The seller was rated 100 %. There was many pictures and details. When we went from New York to Florida to go get it, the seller left out the transmission fluid doesn't stay in, it leaks all out and the carpets had huge holes. All sellers request a deposit through Paypal. Well, I lost my deposit because the seller wouldn't give it back and when I disputed it with my credit card company through Paypal, Paypal fought me and said DEPOSITS AREN'T REFUNDABALE. . Needless to say we lost $ 1,000.00.
Giving Ebay motorhomes another chance we bought another one. The seller wanted $ 500.00 deposit after auction via Paypal, we went to pick it up. The seller didn't say the siding was delaminated and there was structure damage that would cost thousands of dollars in repairs. Once again the seller misrepresented and kept our $ 500.00 deposit. Once again Paypal fought and said deposits aren't refundable, EVEN THOUGH THE SELLER MISREPRESENTED THE ITEM. My charge card company made the charge stick.
Moral of the story ; Don't buy a motorhome on Ebay unless YOU SEE IT FIRST. You will lose your deposit. You can dispute it all you want with your credit card company you lose. Oh, and the insurance Ebay offers if the deal is bad ? Well it costs you money to try and collect and alot of hassle. We lost $ 1500.00 in deposits. We went to our local rv dealer and bought one.
This is a bad policy for Ebay and Paypal. I bet the same thing happens for cars.
