Aluminum Plastic, Tin or Steel - Signs License Plates or Tags

There is a difference!

Have you ever wondered why the State issued license plate on your automobile lasts so long?  Because it is made of Aluminum.

Aluminum is usually embossed and painted with long lasting enamel paint which is applied to a pristine and clean aluminum blank. This means the image on the license plate will have depth brought on by the embossing process and long lasting vivid color from the enamel paint.

Aluminum License Plates & Signs - Advantages

Aluminum does not crack, curl or break and it will not rust or corrode like steal or tin. Aluminum is more durable, usually has a higher gloss and shine and an embossed aluminum sign or license plate adds depth to whatever image is presented.  It will be noticed and remembered by more people who view it.

Aluminum license plates or tags will last on average 3-7 years and often longer.

Plastic, Tin, Steel License Plates or Signs

Cheaper, but not by much, fade out and become unsightly sooner, but they are cheap to produce and easy to ship so many eBay and other sellers promote them heavily.

Plastic license plates fade in the sun and scratch much more easily than aluminum embossed license plates.

Plastic license plates are fine for novelty or temporary tags such as those used by auto dealers to advertise their dealership on a used car but when it comes to long term quality in a license plate, heavy gauge aluminum is the only real way to go.

Steel signs and license plates rust, chip and become unsightly in less than a year of exposure to the elements.

Steel signs are very heavy and difficult to mount to drywall or other surfaces without damage to the wall.

Tin signs corrode heavily.

You will end up replacing 4-5 plastic tin or steel plates or signs for every one aluminum quality embossed plate or sign you purchase.

Long term - Aluminum is a better deal

Buy Aluminum you will be glad you did!

Buy aluminum plates and signs, you will be happy to not worry about the quality once you have installed your new tag or novelty sign.  The simple fact is that aluminum embossed signs and license plates are more impressive and less expensive in the long run.
