JEWELRY is BEAUTIFUL!!
BUT.... Is is worth what you pay for it on Ebay?? Check out the beautiful wedding set (pictured above) that I purchased recently as a gift for my daughter who Bless her Heart, instead of wanting a huge expensive wedding, decided to have a small casual wedding just so her father and I could enjoy the task at hand in leu of the huge expense since she is our 6th child. So I decided to get her a cheaper wedding set just until they and I could afford a nice set. Since this was our agreement.
I looked at the picture, read a bit of the auction ad and knew it wasn't real diamonds, however excited that the bidding was ending soon, I missed the part where it was merely Platinum Clad over solid Sterling so I clicked on BID! That was my 1st MISTAKE!!
I won the auction for this ring at $42.50 and as the ad stated I requested a specific size of 5 1/2. Shipping was a set rate of $8.50 USPS. Didn't hear one word from the seller until after over 3 weeks when I emailed and inquired about the shipment. Four weeks, finally recieved the package that came in a standard low cost shipping USPS shipping box and no coorespondence in the box.
Yes, the rings were beautiful, although I could easily tell these rings were much like costume jewelry. Something you can buy at a truck stop for about 9.99. And sadly it wasnt even sized as requested. My daughter was very dissapointed and I was embarrassed for getting it for her! I was even more embarrassed when she took it to a local jeweler only to be told it could not be sized because of the quality of the metal it was made from. When I confronted the seller, I was told in a very nasty tone that I should have read the ad better, although it did not say they don't size half sizes.
The ad also said they GUARANTEE their jewelry, and they only give refunds in store credit, but when I requested an address to return the set for exchange for the correct size, they did not respond.
Buyers, don't be like me, follow these guides from lessons learned the hard way...
- Read the complete ad carefully. All the details of the item, the shipping cost and any guarantees.
- Read the Sellers Feedback as sometimes buyers leave Positive yet tell the true story of their discouragement.
- Make certian you know what you are buying, dont just look at the picture because it may not be what you expect.
- If in doubt, before you bid or buy, contact the Seller with questions.
- Keep in contact with the Seller, let them know you are on the ball.
- Be cautious of excessive Shipping and Handling. Remember, Jewelry don't weight much nor does it take a large box to ship. Generally it should cost about 3.00 in the US.
- Read other Guides on purchasing Jewelry on the internet and Ebay.
Good Luck and Happy Ebaying All!!
