What should you look for when buying huge lots of Mary Kay inventory? Here I list a few questions that you may not have thought about carefully or not at all. I hope this provides you with help:
1. Is the seller listing all items individually?
Make sure that the seller is listing each item and not just saying, "Ten lipsticks, five cheek colors..." etc. They might just be liquidating colors that are not as in demand and that they could not sell. You must make sure that the colors that you want are being offered!
2. Are the products from a smoke free home?
This thought may have not crossed your mind, but it is VERY important! If the products have cigarrette smell, you will not be able to resell them! Or, if for personal use, the smell may affect your using the product. Ask the seller if the listing does not say. Some just forget to say.
3. How old are the products?
You can't read the codes on the products by looking at the pictures (to find the date they were produced), but you can get an idea by the product's presentation. Below is an example of MK Timewise Day and Night Solutions:
Current presentation Older presentation Old presentation
(may be good) (will not be good) (will not be good)
4. Is there a clear picture of the actual items for sale?
Many sellers don't provide a picture of the actual items for sale or take them from the Mary Kay website. Why is that? Maybe they don't have a camera, or they don't want you to see them. Maybe they do not really HAVE the products. TAKE IT FROM SOMEONE WHO LEARNED THE HARD WAY: I purchased a lot from someone who did not list all items individually and did not provide a picture. What happened then? 3 months later, I did not receive anything. I had to file a claim and got MOST of my money back. (And the seller accused me of being impatient!) It seemed too good to be true---and it was.
5. Am I bidding carefully?
Most people when bidding on MK lots bid in the last few seconds. Make sure you know when the auction ends and if it is not at 2 A.M.! Once you think you have won, someone comes and rips it right off of your hands! Make sure that if you are the high bidder, that you are refreshing the page of the auction very often. Those last few seconds are crucial. Don't let it get away!
6. How safe are mystery auctions?
Also be careful when bidding on the "mystery" auctions. You never know if you will be disappointed. If the seller says, "$100 will get you $200 worth of products." Since Mary Kay is not all that inexpensive, you may only get about 10 items. For $100? That's paying $10 per piece. You will not get to choose colors or skin type, so be careful!
I hope I have helped you EVEN JUST A LITTLE! Thank you for reading this!
