Buying Fluorescent Mineral Specimens on e-Bay

Before purchasing Fluorescent Minerals online, do some research of the mineral specimens.  I would like to suggest to all Fluorescent Minerals collectors to buy this EXCELLENT FLUORESCENT MINERAL BOOK  for only $29.95.  This book shows excellent photos of what Fluorescent Minerals Specimens should look like and what they look like from their origin.

"THE WORLD OF FLUORESCENT MINERALS" by Sturart Schneider 2006 edition

Fluorescent Mineral photos can be enhanced and even altered with the program PAINT and even e-Bay has a program for altering/enhament of photos when loading photos up onto their site, so Please! get to Know the Seller and know if the seller is using a field lamp such as a 4 watt, 9 watt, 13 watt or even a display lamp with a 65 watt Ultraviolet light fixture and the type of camera they use.  To truely buy from reputable sellers of Fluorescent Minerals on e-Bay, the seller needs to invest $500.00-$1,000.00 for a good Ultraviolet lamp and a good digital camera.  I personally use the "WAY TO COOL" & "SUPER BRIGHT 2000" Ultraviolet lamps and a "SONY digital camera with an inferred sensor".

Ebay is a great way to enhance your personal Fluorescent Mineral collection so do some research on the specimens and the sellers for a truely great hobby.

EXAMPLE:  These photos are of the same specimen and these photos are only a guide based on TRUE COLORS.  The photo on the left shows a sample of a Clinohedrite's NON TRUE COLORS yellow (looks more like Esperite) vs the photo on the right shows the Clinohedrites TRUE COLORS orange.

EXAMPLE:  This is another poor photo of the TRUE COLORS of Willemite and Calcite from the Franklin Mines of Franklin, New Jersey and they call it "SUPER GLOW" but it will not look like this to the naked eye.

It's hard for mineral collectors to expand their Fluorescent Mineral collection as mineral shows are not always in our back yard and collecting sites are disappearing every year.  I've traveled through 49 states in the United States with Oregon being the only state that I haven't visited and I've traveled through 6 Providences in Canada.  All of these areas of North America are beautiful and so is collecting Fluorescent Mineral specimens but it is not as easy as it may seam to collect these specimens.

Since the Military bounces myself around the U.S. and the World  that I can never maintain an annual attendance at any given show so I've turned to e-Bay in 2002 when I ended up in North Platte, Nebraska and North Platte is in the middle of NO WHERE and this is based on being spoiled from New Jersey.  My goal for Fluorescent Mineral Collectors is to maintain a large selection with as many specimens as I can obtain and load them up into MY STORE on e-Bay that will allowing a One Stop Shop similar our Mega Malls.  :-)

I've been able to maintain over 250 specimens at one time on e-Bay with dozens of different specimens with a variety of sizes. (Larger specimens on request).  I have dozens of milk cases full of collected Fluorescent minerals specimens and hundreds of flats just waiting for you.

Thank you  SFC Jake Kramer
