Managing computer equipment purchases may seem like an easy task, but even the most knowledgable thrifty buyers can be swallowed into a sea of mistakes.

In todays world of ever quickly evolving technology it is easy to be overwhelmed. Almost every manufacturer of components claims they have the best machine, upgrade or peripheral device for you to buy and it seems that they are obsolete before you felt you got your money's worth from your purchase.

The easiest and most simple way to ensure you get what you need is to research!

While this may seem simple enough in theory it is simple to get confused by Core Duos turning into Quads and Core i7s with Q9550 EE turning into 965EE as the fastest CPUs and F.S.B.s evolving into Q.P.Is and so forth.

Computer companies offer to take this resposibility of knowledge from your hands and sell you a pre-built machine with all the "latest" technology included. No worries, right? WRONG! Generally speaking you get 3 basic components that are honestly portayed in the specs line up. The CPU, HDD space, and RAM amount. Rarely the video display specifics, the motherboard type (The most overlooked aspect, but perhaps the most important) often the larger the company the way they offer the low bargain prices they cut corners buy saving expense on the motherboard by manufacturing rather generic and simplified (cheap) boards instead of high quality ones that really give the lasting performance with future upgradeability you desire.

Generally when the new technology arrives they don't want you to upgrade your current machine, they want to sell you the next model. Often instead of giving top quality expandable graphics processors that are reasonably affordable they will try to slide by (on-board) graphics chip solutions that will show you internet pictures on your new box, but when you decide to fire up a 3D application or new game a friend told you about you are quite shocked to realize your brand new machine produces a slide show of choppy pictures instead of blazing action promised in the sales ad.

A quick solution: I am not saying go out and become a computer tech and build yourself the next super computer, you may not be inclined to or have the time. I do suggest however that you look for smaller more personalized experts to assemble your machine and are willing to show you exactly what you are getting up front and explain each component individually instead of slipping things buy to save themselves a buck instead of you. I am pretty sure with larger chains you will have enough problems getting good tech support let alone specific figures on what performance options you really need and don't need.

Search for actual users reviews of individual parts included in a machine you want to buy or have built instead of trusting flashy ads. I am not trying to insult anyones intelligence. This is all advice that is pretty easy to realize yourself. It is just a reminder because no matter how experienced you are patience is sometimes lost and better judgement has to take a side step.

If your on ebay looking for deals you are already on your way to helping yourself, but still stay on your toes and you can have the best for the price of mediocrity.

My next Guide will involve specific details on things to look for when hunting for technology to better increase your electronic experience.
