Buying clothing online can be scarey.  Here are a few tips to help the new ebayer as well as a expert ebayer.

  • If you dont know ASK the seller. What ever the question may be don't hestitae to ask.
  • There is alot of used clothing on the auction block.  As we know, resale and consignment shoppes are a rising business, so why not ebay?   Its GREAT!

                           Measurements:

  • Be sure you get all the measurements, because most of the sellers have a no refund policy on items that dont fit. Here are some guidelines for sizing.

Pants:  Always get the rise measurement, inseam and waist.  The rise is the measurement from the crouch to the top of the waist.  This is the most important!  Jeans and pants are made Low rise, no waist, and they come in all sizes.  A size 0 jean might have a 28" waist with a rise measurement of 7 ".  So that 28" waist is really the hips!. So measure your rise and from that point measure around to get your waist.   The inseam is from the crouch down to the bottom of pant leg.

Tops and Shirts and Dresses:  Always get the bust measurement -laying flat- measure across from one arm pit to the other. Also get  the length from the shoulder to the hem. The same technique for getting waist measurements on a dress.  Ask the seller to lay the garment down flat and measure across.

  • Don't hestiate to ask for other pictures, like back views or inside views.  Most of the sellers are not professional photographers, ( I know I'm Not!) and sometimes the pictures on the auction are not clear or have flash spots.  Most sellers will be glad to send additional pictures.

Shoes:  There are alot of great used and new shoes up for auction.  If they are used, ask for a picture of the bottom of the shoe.  This can tell you how much wear the shoe has on it.  It will also give you a better feel on the heel, arch and the type of sole.  Don't be afraid to ask any questions or for additional pictures!

                                      What are these words?

You will find these words out there. NWT! NWOT,NIB, LOT!

If you are a new ebayer, you are asking yourself what do they mean?

NWT--New with Tags   NWOT  New without tags. NIB-- New in box .  Lot- Is more than one item.

On the used clothing, sellers will use words like new condition, great condition, very good, gently worn.  Here is where you ask!  Everyone has their own opionin of what is new condition, great condition etc.  Ask the seller:  If it say new condition.  Ask, if it has wear, or is the material still crisp.  Dont be afraid to ask if it has any stains, tears, snags or anything! Because what might be new condition for someone could be very good condition to another!.

What to do when your item has arrived.

For you new ebayers, always communicate with your seller. ( I know ebay is scarey at first, because you dont know if someone is out to get you or not. )  Sellers like communicaton.  If you receive your item, and your not happy with it, Email the seller.  Please dont slap a negative feedback without trying to work it out with your seller.  There are alot of stay at home moms, disabled people and others out here in ebay that are very honest people who are just trying to make an extra income.  Sellers depend on that feedback rating.

I hope these few tips are helpful.  I will be adding more ! So keep looking back.
