Negative feedback is not always an accurate indicator as to what a seller is or is not capable of, doing or not doing, or, representing or not representing.

It is a real shame when a buyer who thinks that they are totally in the right ruins a seller's perfect feedback score!!  I recently experienced this.  I had a buyer that bid on one of my items, in fact, overbid somebody else.  After the sale was complete and I had already left the person some good positive feedback, I got hit with negative feedback complaining about my shipping charge!!  This person never contacted me once before, during or after the sale until the negative feedback.  It is not very fair of this person to leave negative feedback without even attempting contact with the seller that he apparently had an issue with.  My shipping costs are clearly stated in all of my auction descriptions.  Most people do not mind paying a little extra when a seller protects the items well and gets the item out the same or the next day after payment is received.  This buyer got two collectible items, items that are no longer made or available, for $5.24!!  He paid just over $8.00 for the shipping.  The items were well protected (one was glass) and were shipped the same day as payment was received and were shipped priority mail.  After getting the negative feedback, I contacted the individual inquiring as to why they did what they did when they knew what the shipping cost was up front and willingly purchased the item.  The reply was that they knew but still did not like the fact that they paid more for shipping than what the actual postage should have been - they said that they only charge what actual postage is and that nobody should try to profit off of shipping costs.  I don't know about you, but after listing, final value, PayPal, packaging and all the other costs involved, two items selling for $5.24 does not leave much left for the seller!!!

Anyway, bottom line I guess is that you cannot please everybody all of the time.  When a person willingly bids on an item knowing full well what all costs are, negative feedback should not be allowed to be left when there was no other issue except for a cost that they knew full well about!!  I state in all of my auctions that communication is important in any transaction and that if you communicate well with me, I will do the same in return.  If the buyer really did not like the costs involved in the sale, they had two reasonable options - communicate with the seller to try to barter for a better ship price or, JUST DON"T BUY THE ITEM!!!   Let's all be fair to each other when it comes to feedback.  Communicate first and try to resolve whatever it is that is bothering you before you ruin somebody's perfect reputation!!
