OK,
Just a quick guide to warn people about this particular watch. There are some of these watches available on eBay. Although they are particularly nice, not all of them are above board. On the burberry website- Burberry.com you can get a large detailed photograph of the watches they sell- so always check for minor inperfections once you receive the watch. Generally they are retailing on eBay for $200 or so. I can tell you now that the ones from Hong Kong and China are fakes. End of story! A month ago I ordered one from Hong Kong. It was $200 and free shipping. From the moment it arrived I knew I had been duped. Not to worry though. The item as with all the Burberry watches had been listed as authentic. I emailed Paypal, filed a complaint and got a refund within 48 hrs. How did I know it was fake? Simple. There are some subtle but important give aways. [Compare your watch on Burberry.com]
1. The 'Swiss Made' logo at the base of the dial was very small, 3 mm in total approx- it should stretch all the way from the 5 to the 7
2. The date window should be located exactly on the the number 4, NOT in between 4 and 5.
3. The chronographs (the three smaller dials) should be touching the number bars.
4. On each smaller dial (there are 3) the numbering should be as follows...
Top left = 30 - 10 - 20
Top right = 60 -15 - 30 - 45
Bottom middle = 12 - 3 - 6 - 9 [All from top then going clock wise]
5. Finally- and this is important- is the overall weight. The fake watches are lighter only by about 10 - 11 grams. I have a fake and an authentic. Basically the real one weighs 68g and the fake 57g.
If you have any other doubts then I suggest bringing the watch to an authorized dealer or any good jeweller who will have a look at the movement to say whether it is Swiss or Chinese. Hope this has been helpful.
P.S. Empire Watches [eBay store] were selling this watch up until recently. They are authentic and retail at about £150. (£320 on Burberry.com)
