We have used a variety of cloth diaper brands, mostly pocket diapers, and bumGenius! are simply the best we've ever used.  Here are some of the reasons why:

THE BIGGEST REASON: ONE SIZE FITS ALL

As your baby grows, you will NOT need to shell out more money for bigger sizes.  These diapers will fit an infant as well as they will fit a toddler or a pre-schooler.  This is because of a few rows of snaps that allow you to adjust the length of the diaper!  The picture below, which was copied from the manufacturer's website, should give you the idea.

So, you can use the same diapers for your infant, your toddler, and your pre-schooler, all at the same time!  I can't put into words how convenient that is.  Your diaper bag (note the singular use of that term) can be packed with one size diaper.  Your inserts will fit all of your diapers.  You don't have to keep track of (and rotate out) various sized diapers as the baby grows, and then dig through storage when the next child comes along.  You can use them all, all the time, thereby getting the most use out of them (and getting your money's worth.)

HOOK-AND-LOOP STRETCHY TABS

Need I say anthing more about how NICE it is to have fully and easily adjustable tabs at the waist?  This is much nicer than the fasteners you find on disposable diapers, which makes sense.  They use better materials.  And snaps are harder to use during changing.  The row of snaps on bumGenius! diapers that you use to adjust the size of the diaper can be taken care of before the changing session. 

LEG ELASTIC

The leg elastic is well placed on these diapers, and it really does trap the moisture in.  I say that as a parent, as a scientist, and as a manufacturing engineer formerly responsible for leg elastic placement for a leading U.S. manufacturer of premium brand disposable diapers.   

INSERTS

If you have used a similar pocket diaper with inserts in the past, the inserts will probably fit these pocket diapers.  bumGenius! diaper inserts have a snap that accomodates the baby's growth, but we have found that folding an insert over at the end is sufficient even if it doesn't have these snaps.  This also means that the hemp inserts that you purchased with your other diapers should work fine as well!  Ours do.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

You will have to keep up with the manufacturer's recommendations for laundering and maintaining the diapers, or you do run the risk of damaging them and reducing their usefulness.  But this is more a matter of following directions than it is a lifestyle change.  We had no problem with it.

As with many pocket diapers, the inserts must be pushed in from one end to the other.  This is fine, unless you have very large hands, as your hand will need to fit through along with the insert.  Despite having large hands (and by large, I mean being able to palm a basketball off the bounce) I still love using these diapers.  We just purchased six more in September!
