The purpose of this guide is to help potential buyers of whips avoid the pitfalls that abound on ebay.
A bullwhip is only as good as what is on the inside. Look for whips that have plaited bellys, regardless of material.. Look for whips with clear detailed pictures. Many unscupulous vendors will hide the actual quality in a poor photo. A single whip takes from 2-5 days to make properly. A good maker will not generally have very many listed at one time. Look for gently used whips from well known makers in 'roo hide. Simon Martin, EM-Brand whips, Joseph Strain, Midwest Whips, Louie Fox, David Morgan, Victor Tella and many others too numerous to list. If you are unsure ask the seller the name of the maker and do a google search...all will be revealed. There are many whips on ebay of various quality in nylon, cowhide and even kangaroo...do a little digging and don't waste your money.
