Radioshacks popular Xmod RC Car has been a hit nation wide. But what is it that makes it diffrent from the rest of the RC Cars? You can totally rebuild it, modify it, and race it with your friends. To earn your rights as an Xmodder you need to know a few things. This guide will show you how to get the most power and performance out of your Xmod.

The natural reaction to taking apart fine electronics like Xmods is the fear of breaking something. And unless you overcome it you wont get anywhere. So suck it up and take a look at the guts before you jump into it. Here is a look at the main electronics in an Xmod.

This is the over all view of a stock xmod. The motor is in the center towards the back. It is an

electric motor, that uses coils and magnets to rotate the gear on the motor. Similar to a motor in an electric toothbrush, but more powerful.

This is what the inside of the motor roughly looks like, you wont have to deal with that until later though.

The gear on the motor is attached to a gear under it, which moves the differental on the axel in the back of the xmod. This gives power to the axel to make the xmod move.

Near the front right of the xmod there is a box with reflective tape on it, that part is called the stearing servo. This moves the Stearing column and turns the front wheels left and right accordingly.

Now that you know the basics, you can start looking into new parts for your stock xmod. You can find retail parts at your local RadioShack store, and you can find most aftermarket parts here on eBay. There is virtually no limit to how much you can do to your xmod. There are xmods that go 50mph!!

Good luck fellow modder!
