Build an Obstacle Course for Fun and Fitness
Obstacle courses can be incredibly fun, challenging, and a great cardiovascular workout. You don’t have to make it too elaborate to make it great; you just need a little imagination.
You can use just about anything to make a great obstacle course; old tires, a swing set, a jungle gym, old cushions, cardboard boxes, old garden hoses, a wheel barrow, pretty much anything you can think of.
When building your first obstacle course make sure it isn’t too difficult, and add obstacles to it, as you get better. The key to a great workout is to continually challenge yourself, start with one lap of the course and work your way up to five to ten without a break in between. Make it a family event, and hold a contest every weekend. You’ll be having so much fun you won’t realize that you’re actually exercising.
Obstacles courses won’t just build your stamina, but will also help you build functional strength, agility, and coordination. If you have the room, building an obstacle course can really help bring your family closer and increase fitness levels at the same time.
