I am a mom and have owned about 15 strollers and by FAR my favorite has been my bugaboo, its my 3rd child! We didn't buy a bugaboo right off the back with my first child due to the sticker shock OMG $700 for a STROLLER!!! But when due with my second, we borrowed a bug. from a friend and my husband was SOLD seeing how the stroller handled and with the option of the toddler board for my older son (not having to push a double stroller!!).

As a ebay seller of bugaboo parts (i sell my extra goodies - i am completly addicted!!) i am constantly asked questions about will this or that cameleon part work on my frog?? How can i upgrade my frog to a cameleon without having to buy a whole new stroller?? What do i need to build a bugaboo? Is the tailored fabric seat the seat i need for the stroller...

What makes the Cameleon different from the frog??

The seat is slightly higher on the cameleon so the child is slightly higher off the ground. The seat frame is longer (about 2"/5cm) on the Cameleon,which doesn't sound like much but makes it last much longer for taller children! The front swivel wheels on the Cameleon have multiple settings for the shock springs that you adjust as your child grows. The underseat storage bag has a larger volume on the Cameleon (it holds more). The Cameleon Canopy is larger and covers more. The Cameleon has an adjustable height handle. On the frog the waist part of the 5pt harness is attached to the seat frame and the shoulder harness is removable and is not always included when buying a used one. On the cameleon they are sewn in. The waist belt is in a slightly different location on the US version of the Cameleon from the frog and the european Cameleon. In the US it comes from behind the child and the frog is from the side as it is attached to the seat frame.

If i am building a Bugaboo (Cameleon) what parts do i need??

A chasis, the 4 wheels, and either:

A car seat adapter (graco or peg perego) and infant car seat

         OR

A seat frame, toddler seat base or bassinet

is what you need to litterally be rolling with a bugaboo you can later add a storage bag, canopy wires and clamps and a tailored fabric set

Is the tailored fabric seat the seat that i need?

NO the tailored fabric seat is a SLIPCOVER that goes over the seat base.

Can i use the Cameleon Tailored Fabric on my Frog?

YES - The seat cover works as a slip cover on the frog but you will either have to make cuts in the fabric for the seat belts (the are in different places on the cameleon they come out from behind the child, and on the frog they come from the sides as they are attached to the seat frame). The canopy works but is a little droopy on the frog as the cameleon has longer wires.

Can i use the Cameleon base on my frog?

NO you need the cameleon seat FRAME as it is 2" longer the cameleon bassinet and toddler seat do NOT fit safely on the frog seat.

Can i use frog wheels on the Cameleon??

YES - the wheels are interchangable. The frog wheels have more tread, the cameleon wheels are smoother. In 2008 the Cameleon started replacing the airfilled rear wheels with foam filled ones, the frog wheels are still air filled.

Can i use a Cameleon seat frame on my frog?

Yes.

Can i get a cameleon chasis to upgrade my frog chasis?

YES but i would also get the storage bag as the frog bag doesn't fit the cameleon well.
