Buffs for all types of Survivors
20 contestants. A deserted island. $1 million dollar prize. It's Survivor, one of the first and most popular reality television shows to date. Beginning September 14th, the 13th season of Survivor begins as 20 strangers vie for the title of "Sole Survivor". The goal: "To Outwit, Outplay, Outlast".
Each season, contestants travel to an exotic part of the world to begin their adventure. As part of the game, they are assigned to tribes, and given a "Survivor Buff" to wear. But what exactly is a "Buff"?
What is a Buff?
A Buff is a seamless, microfiber garment that is wind resistant, machine washable, and can worn over a dozen different ways. The most popular way to wear it is as a headband, but it can also be used as a bandana, scarf, wristband, cap, dust guard, helmet liner, and much more. Buffs are lightweight, easy to travel with, and wick moisture. Most of all, they are comfortable, and fashionable to wear.
History:
Long before Buffs were featured on the first season of Survivor Borneo, adventure racers were wearing them. For many Survivor fans, these unique accessories were unfamiliar, but to sports enthusiasts and athletes around the world, Buffs are the versatile garments they don't want to race without.
Buff headwear was created in 1992 by a company called Original Buff S.L. There are now more than 3 million Buffs sold each year, and are available in more than 40 different countries. There are 3 different size Buffs: Original Buff which is an adult size, Junior Buff for 5-16 year olds, and Baby Buff for those little ones under 4.
What makes a Buff unique?
Each Buff weighs less than 2 ounces, and is approximately 20" x 9" when layed out flat. One size fits most adults. Made from 100% polyester microfiber, Buffs are colorfast, dry quickly, and maintain their shape and elasticity. They are machine or hand washable, and do not fade or shrink, even if placed in the dryer. Buffs are seamless and stitch free which means there are no irritating seams or tags, unlike regular cloth bandanas. They're soft, comfortable to wear, and once you try one, you will love it.
Stylish & Practical:
Buffs are not only useful, they are fashionable as well! Did you know that Buffs come in over 150 designs & styles? Buffs come in solid colors, prints, and designs so you can wear them as part of your everyday wardrobe. Fans of Survivor, the Amazing Race, and Ecochallenge Adventure will love to wear these specially designed Buffs. For nature lovers, there is a National Geographic series of visually stunning Buffs which feature animals and eye-catching nature designs. For bikers and joggers, there is a special edition Reflective Buff that features two reflective stripes to provide added visibility at night. For the winter, Polar Buffs have Polartec100 fleece to provide additional warmth.
Buffs are fashionable for everyone. Motorcycle riders can use them as a helmet guard. Cancer Survivors & those with hair loss can use them as a comfortable (and stylish) alternative to wigs or hats. Groups can use the various colored Buffs to divide teams, or even display their corporate logo on specially designed Buffs. Anyone who enjoys indoor or outdoor sports can participate in style.
Common ?'s:
Q. Can my Buff be worn as a tube top, like the girls do on Survivor?
A. No, there are over a dozen ways to wear a Buff, but it cannot be worn as a tube top (unless you are incredibly tiny or not into breathing). The tube top Buffs the girls wear on Survivor are specially made for the show. They are larger in size than the original Buffs, and made to be worn as a top. For a few of the Survivor seasons, these were made available for sale to the public.
Q. Where can I find Survivor Buffs from previous seasons?
A. Over the years, Survivor Buffs have been collectible items. Typically, when a season sells out, they are no longer available. Ebay is an excellent starting point to begin your search for hard to find Buffs. For buyers looking for a specific one, ebay's want it now section may be helpful.
Buffs are unique, fun to wear, and make great gifts. Once you try one, you will be hooked!
