BLOOMING BROMELIADS ARE A  NATURAL PROCESS, HEALTHY MATURE BROMELIADS NEED NO  FRUITS OR CHEMICALS TO BLOOM. THE BROMELIAD SOCIETY DOES NOT RECOMMEND SPRAYING WITH CHEMICALS TO FORCE MATURITY AND BLOOMS.

WHEN FORCED TO BLOOM WITH CHEMICALS LIKE FLORAL, USED BY LOTS OF COMMERCIAL GROWERS WILL FORCE BLOOMS BEFORE TEH PLANT IS MATURE AND READY TO BLOM. THE BLOMS WILL NOT MATURE AND OPEN, ONLY A COLORFUL BRACT WILL FORM, ALSO THE PUPS FORMED BY THIS PLANT WILL  NOT  BE  AS STRONG OR AS MANY AS THE NATURAL PLANT WOULD PRODUCE-

THE BEST WAY FOR BLOOMS ON BROMELIADS IS TEH RIGHT GROWTH HABITS AND A GOOD PLANT FOOD FOR BROMELIADS. THE WRONG  OR MISSUSE   OF PLANT FOOD WILL CAUSE EXTRA LONG LEAVES AND THE COLORS WILL NOT BE AS BRIGHT OR VIVID.

PLACING FRUIT IN BROMELIADS  IS NOT AS SUCESSFUL AS SOME WOULD HAVE YOU BELIEVE- THE APPLE DOES GIVE OFF PECTIN AS IT RIPENS, BUT EXPERIMENTS AT THE  BROMELIAD SOCIETY HAVE  PROVED  THAT THIS DOES NOT WORK.

WATERING BROMELIADS IS IMPORTANT- IF WATER IS KEPT IN TEH CUP OR CENTER OF TEH BROMELIAD YOU MUST FLUSH THE OLD WATER OUT AND REPLACE WITH NEW WATER OR IT CAN BECOME STAGNANT AND ROT THE PLANT. MOST BROMELIADS ARE TERRESTIALS, NOT EPIPHYTES. TILLANDSIAS ARE EPIPHYTES. THAT MEANS THEY FEED THROUGH THEIR LEAVES NOT THE ROOTS.

BROMELIADS GROWING ON TREES ARE NOT NECESSARILY EPIPHYTES, IT RAINS MORE OFTEN IN THE  TROPICS WHERE THEY GROW SO, RAIN RUNS ON THE ROOTS OFTEN, AND TEH RAIN KEEPS THE PLANT FLUSHED.

GROWING BROMELIADS IN OUR AREA OR HOUSES, WE MUST WATER TEH ROOTS OURSELVES AND FLUSH OUR PLANTS CENTERS- I HAVE A  RECOMMENDATION, WATER  SOIL AND ROOTS WEEKLY AND PLACE A VERY SMALL AMOUNT OF WATER IN  CENTER OF  NEOREGELAIS. THAT WAY IT WILL EVAPORATE AND NOT BECOME STAGNANT.

MOUNTING BROMELIADS ON WOOD-TILLANDSIAS ARE THE BEST ONES TO GROW ON WOOD, THEY ARE TRUE EPIPHYTES. SOME SELLERS PLACE GUZMANIAS, VRIESEAS, NEOREGELIAS AND CRYPTANTHUS ON WOOD, BUT THEY DONT TELL YOU TO KEEP THE ROOTS MOIST. THAT IS DIFFICULT AS THEY DRY OUT SO FAST IN AREAS THAT ARE NOT TROPICAL.ALSO THEY DONT TELL YOU THAT  YOU HAVE TO FLUSH THE PLANT WEEKLY.-
