Did your Playstation 2, XBOX, or Gamecube all of a sudden stop working for you?  Before you give up on your game system and decide to trash it, sell it, or give it away, try this.

Blow the dust out with an air hose.  Electronics get really dusty inside and the first thing you should try, is to remove that dust.  The fastest and easiest way to do this is with an air hose.  The one I'm using in the picture is a shop air hose, hooked up to an air compressor.  I know not everyone has one of these, but you can try an air pump or buy one of those aerosol cans in the electronics department of most stores.  The problem with the aerosol cans, is that they really don't have a lot of air pressure.  An air pump might have just enough air pressure to clean out the dust.  Also, you could try a hair dryer on cold heat or a vacuum cleaner.

The Playstation 2 in the picture was still in working condition when I took it out to do pre-maintenance.  I just held the air hose about 8 inches away, and blew all around the holes and especially the fan.  I forgot to open the disk drawer before I took it outside.  I brought it back in, plugged it in, opened the disk drawer and tried to use an aerosol dust remover can, to blow the dust out of the disk drive.  It didn't have enough air pressure to clean it, and it gave me the disk read error, when I turned it on, because the dust had gotten blown up into the laser.  Leaving the disk drawer open, I took it back outside and blew out the inside of the disk drawer, and all around it again.  I brought it back in, hooked it up and it worked great.  The kids could play their guitar hero again.

This same method works really good on t.v.'s and computer monitors.  My t.v. picture went black and we took the t.v. out, blew the dust out, hooked it back up and we had t.v. again.  We also do this to our computers and other electronics.  The key to make them last is to dust them out before they go dead.  In doing this, we do not have to replace our electronics, unless we want to, or if something really major goes wrong with them and that hardly ever has happened.  Dust is one of electronics worst enemy.

If you found this helpful or tried it out and it worked for you too, please vote.  Thank you and happy video gaming.
