For my daughter, we started with Barbie, trying to diversify by buying different hair colors and skintones - who needs 20 blonde dolls looking (virtually) the same??!! Then we moved on to Bratz. Trouble with Bratz is, they are the SAME six core characters endlessly re-vamped. You can end up with 15 Jade dolls...! So we got her Bratz on the following two conditions: NO repeats of the characters, and NO Bratz accessories. I explained she already has many accessories for Barbie and she can use them for Bratz. I also told her the Bratz accessories are more expensive, and its not necessary to have everything the company makes. She understood and happily complied. But I must say, Bratz are EXTREMELY well made. Much better than Barbie. The amount of detail in the clothing, hair, and face-paint is unbelievable for a mass produced doll.
