I have purchased several hundred brass pieces in the last couple of years and find that almost without exception those marked 'Made in India' are of the highest quality.  Candle Stick pieces, for example have better fitting sections with harder to see seems where they screw together.  The Indian pieces are also usually more finished looking (greater detail), are heavier and seem to polish easier and retain their luster for much longer periods of time than those from other parts of the world.  It may be well whether buying or selling to inquire or state origin of make for brass units.
