We want to inform craft people, woodworkers, and anyone that purchases plated items of the methods and pricing to come of all plated items.
When items are brass plated in the USA the plating is done with a water base plating medium. So there may be an occasional water spot on the plating. This can be removed with any brass clearer such as Bar Keepers Brass cleaner and others.
When items are plated in China, it is done with very harsh and hazardous chemicals that are hazardous to the worker and the environment which we all know is part of the global warming debate.
When items are brass plated, they are nickel plated first to make the finish come out properly. Nickel has recently taken a very large jump in price and along with a shortage of brass and increase in price, brass plated items will be going up in price. Any nickel plated items will also be going up also because of the nickel prices.
